Patti and I are in the process of adopting a child from China:
This is a running dialog, with the older stuff on the bottom and the new information on the top. We are working with an Adoption Agency out of Denver - Chinese Children Adoption International (CCAI). Our friends, Karen and Ken adopted through CCAI and we have heard many other great recommendations for this agency. We have decided that we will take a child of either sex. However, most of the children coming out of China are girls, probably around 95%. We DO NOT have names picked out yet. 24 March 2006 The Chinese Government sent us the Log in Date (LID). Now we just wait for the Chinese Government to process our application and match us with a child. The present waiting time is 6 to 12 months. 13 March 2006 Our dossier has been translated and it was shipped to China today. In a couple of weeks the Chinese government will send us a Log In Date (LID). This number will determines the order in which parents recieve their match to a child. It is a first come first serve basis. 23 February 2006 We finished the paperwork and sent it to the adoption agency (CCAI) for checking and translation into a dossier. Once the dossier is sent to China we will have a 6 to 12 month wait. We will then travel to China to pick up our new child (and do more paperwork). We will spend approximately one week in the province where the orphanage is, to pick up our child and complete the Chinese paperwork. We will not know which province it is until the last moment. We will then travel to the U.S.A. consulate in GuongZhou to finish the U.S. paperwork. This will take an additional week. Fall 2005 We started the paperwork process in the Fall of 2005. This process takes months. All of this paperwork feeds into a dossier, which is sent to the Chinese government for approval and child matching. |
